To be so annoyed

With the people we bought our house off? Absolute night mare! I swear people shouldn't be allowed to serious renovations without being actually qualified!

The woman we bought the house off made steps into the bottom garden and they're so unsafe! She's done dry stone walling and it's all wrong, the rocks don't overlap. Structurally they are a mess and will cost £2000 to take apart and rebuild by a stone Mason using actual dry stone wall techniques. Her husband is clearly just as shit as diy and has bodged loads inside.

We knew the inside needed sorting, I didn't anticipate having to pay out to fix steps.

Can I ask for any bodges you've found in houses you've owned? I'll add a photo because I frankly couldn't give a shit if she sees this, they're still friends with my abusive alcoholic neighbour and they like to come round and comment on what we've done with the garden and house.

We've just spent £1000 on replacing the fence down there because they put it up with no posts, just nailed the panels together and hoped for the best, clearly it wouldn't do well in the weather we've had!

Inside we've got an outside tap just welded onto a water pipe in the basement with absolutely no drainage at all, none whatsoever so it's just an outside tap fitted through plasterboard with absolutely no way of getting rid of any water unless you carry the bucket upstairs..

Anyway, more overtime needed so the stairs don't fall down and destroy the garden Hmm

Didn't any of this show up on your survey? You must've seen the steps when you did your viewings.

Some stuff was on the survey. The garden wasn't included. We should have looked harder at the garden. The garden wasn't included because they didn't actually own the land at the time they did this so we made them register it with the land registry and that was done so late on in the process there wasn't time to get a structural survey of it which was our fault. But it's still bloody annoying

They're not really steps though. Didn't you see them at the viewings?
