When should I take a pregnancy test?

My period is late but I can’t work out how late I would be as my cycles range from 28 days to 35/40 days ever since I had my little boy two years ago. My last period started on 8th January so by my calculation I would be 4-9 days late if I went off the 35/40. Is that right? I have symptoms like having a really strong sense of smell, tummy cramping and tender nipples but of course these are also signs of period coming on!

I’m just wondering if anyone can help me with the maths and tell me if I’m late enough to test? I don’t want to waste tests if I’m too early, and not sure if I go off my period ending or my period starting last month.

Silly question I know but any input is great! Thank you.

With both of my pregnancies I've tested first thing in the morning the day I was due on and got the BFPs
If you think you're around a week late anyway, I think 1 test would let you know either way

You go by the first day of your last period, you should be ok to test
