I’m a qualified nurse (community) who would really like to move into drug addiction nursing/counselling. I have no idea how to do this though! Can anyone advise?

(I know it’s not an AIbU but not sure what other topic to put it in!)

I would recommend seeing if you can do some volunteering at a drug/alcohol place - www.changegrowlive.org/ do a lot of things.

Some other advice/tips here:

Good luck! I worked as an addiction counsellor and it's very interesting (and challenging) work :)

The community drug & alcohol team in my area employs adult nurses as well as mh nurses. I would contact your local team and ask if you’d be able to apply for any posts coming up. May also be opportunities with charities depending on where you live?
