Shamelessly posting in AIBU for traffic but I need to speak to someone!

I am early 30s and I have been in my job for 3 years. It's a dead end job and no chance to progress. No training and most people have been there for at least a decade. It's a niche industry and not for profit, plus it's likely the money will run out pretty soon as there are expensive costs just to keep it going:

But the pros are I am left to do what I like, no micromanagement, no one cares what I do and I can work whatever hours I want, where I want. However I am required to go into the office a few times a week.

I have however been offered a new job. It is fully working from home, but set hours (not flexible). However, it is less hours per week and more money. A more reputable company with chance to progress either there or moving on to other things.

I suppose I am hesitant because the new job may be harder with deadlines and more stressful. It would be a lot more work But it would be a good career move.

YABU - take the new job
YANBU - stay where you are

YABU

a move from a comfy organisation is always really difficult, but you'll be so glad you did.

Take the leap!!! You’re still young, if it doesn’t work out you won’t have lost anything, but if you stay where you are you will always wonder, and probably regret not taking the chance.

3luckystars · 16/02/2022 22:14

I would take the new job, you are not happy so move on. Good luck.

FriedTomatoe · 16/02/2022 22:14

Will you be happy in 5 years still doing the same job? If not, you should take the new job. Most jobs worth having are going to be hard work.

Darbs76 · 16/02/2022 22:15

I’d just go for it, might be more challenging but current job sounds dull

Indoorcamping · 16/02/2022 22:17

New job, without a doubt.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 16/02/2022 22:17

Definitely take the job

Merryoldgoat · 16/02/2022 22:39

I’d be leaping at the new job.

Leeds2 · 16/02/2022 22:46

Another one saying take the new job!

nancynoname · 16/02/2022 23:23

I'd definitely take the new job!

You'll probably adjust to the fixed hours quite quickly.
