To be utterly confused about the NHS app?

So I'm flying to the USA this week with family (long awaited and much looked forward to trip)

According to the Gov site, the US will accept proof of vaccination and this can be in the form of the "Covid Pass" on the NHS app.
I have it on the app with the little QR code on my phone. It's valid for 1 month.

My mum called me today and during the conversation she informed me that I should have "registered" on the NHS app by recording a video of myself saying a code??! They then emailed her saying she was verified.
She said that's what she did when she downloaded the app.

I downloaded the app last summer and I never had to record a video of myself?? From what I can remember I just entered my NHS number and that was it?

I'm now scared that I won't be allowed to enter the US

Do I need to do anything?
Am I being completely stupid? Google hasn't helped me much....

I just did the app for my in laws and we had to do this for my FIL but not MIL because FIL didn’t have his mobile number registered with the gp. It was just to verify who he was but not everyone needs to do it so don’t worry! Once that bit was all done he got the pass as normal valid for a month. Don’t worry!

I'm confused between NHS app, NHSCovid app, MyGP app, patient portal at local hospital which doesn't seem to have an app option...

I never had to record a video but my husband and some friends did (downloaded the app a few weeks after me), i think they updated the verification process for extra security.
I can get into the app/use it and view my vaccine QR code the same as my husband can.
I think as long as you have that QR code to confirm vaccination you'll be fine

Yes I didnt have to do a video, nor did my mum, but my dad did as his surgery didn't have his mobile number! Then it took three tries for the video to be accepted!

If you have the actual Covid pass and qr code you're fine.

Yes, don’t worry OP, my son had to do the record thing too, but I didn’t nor did my other son. I think there are just various ways to check identities 😊

I had to do a video and my dad had to record his face whilst the screen flashed different colours. We're based in Wales - possibly you are based on username? Essentially there are two version of the covid pass, one for domestic use and one for international travel. Assuming you access the later it should be ok? Personally I would print out a copy too, just in case.

Thank you...No I'm in England. I'm going to print out the vaccination record just in case like you said. Is that the PDF doc you can download from the app?

I think the PDF just shows the QR code. You can see the vaccinations on the app, maybe a screenshot would work

I didn’t need to do the video but my 17 year old did. No idea why some people need extra verification.
