What do you expect from an events / wedding planner at a hotel?

Just that really.
The wedding we are getting married at have no enthusiasm, very poor at responding to emails but happy to ask me to give lots of info via email and poorly organised. I have not organised a big event before so I'm unsure what I am meant to expect. Am I unreasonable to expect a good level of service from an events manager?

How long away is your wedding? They might be snowed under prioritising ones that are sooner. I got frustrated last year with our venue (wedding this summer) but in the past few months they have turned a corner and are very impressive with their organisation now. Think they were just focusing on events that were sooner at the time.

How far away is your wedding and what kind of info are they requesting? What you expect from an event coordinator will depend on the event, venue and how much you are doing yourself and how much the venue is responsible for.

If your wedding is in months/next year then they probably aren't going to be massively attentive until much closer to the date, except for things where they need to book/order things months in advance (eg if you wanted some specific shade of table cloths that need ordering from Australia and will take 3 months to arrive)

If however your wedding is in a couple of weeks and they're emailing you about flowers and music choices but haven't confirmed the menu/registrar has been arranged then I would be concerned.
