To be considering quitting my job

I've been here less than 3 months.

Today, I made a small mistake (I don't want to go into as I don't want to be identified) and my boss came and shouted at me loudly in my face, in front of all my colleagues. I've been told it isn't rare that he shouts like this.

I started crying which I'm ashamed of but I have mental health issues which they are aware of and I'm having a really hard time at the moment anyway.

AIBU to want to quit now? Am I simply too soft?

I don't think it's "soft" to react to public humiliation like that by crying. It's human!

He sounds like a very poor manager if this is how he handles errors being made.

If you can get work another way, either temping, freelancing or getting another job soon, do look into how you could do that.

No-one should have to put up with that kind of working environment.

You're not too soft, your boss is an arrogant bully. I would walk out, slamming the door on the way, but I am very impulsive. Take a few deep breaths, then start looking for another job. Once you have one lined up, you can calmly tell the tosser you are leaving and explain exactly why,

Being shouted at is humiliating, I'm not surprised you cried.
