I have a forehead thermometer, which consistently shows my temperature accurately I would say.
When my DC is ill, the temp is always really really high on this thermometer. When I then check myself, it's accurate.
For example I just checked my DC and it was 38.9. I checked on two different ones and it's around 37.4 on the forehead and 37.7 in ear.
When my DC was ill a few weeks ago, the 'faulty' forehead one consistently showed temperatures above 40-41. Whereas the other ones showed around 38-39.
Has anyone ever dealt with such a strange thermometer ? Do you think maybe it's adding a degree, because it knows that it's not that accurate when measuring on the forehead ?
I think I'm just never going to use this one again. I'm getting on well with one that does both forehead and in ear temperature and it seems to not wildly fluctuate.
Forehead ones are notoriously bad aren't they. But it really freaked me out and may have caused additional distress when it was having such high readings.
I don't want to trash the brand, but it's not a cheap one and a well known brand. Whereas the other one I'm using is cheaper and not a known brand. Maybe my particular thermometer is faulty. But it's always accurate when I use it, which confuses me..
Has anyone else had a similar experience ?
