To feel sick

Someone has been given permission to vape in my small office on the short periods he is here (normally here on my own aside from an hour or two with the boss). After an hour of them being in here I feel sick. I can't work out if I genuinely feel sick because of the vaping or because I'm telling myself that's it and it's just in my head. I don't know anyone else who vapes (not around me at least) so have no other experience to say if it's genuinely making me feel sick.
Is that a normal thing? If you don't smoke or vape, do you also feel sick when you're around someone who is?
(I know it's probably illegal to vape indoors/work but that's not what my question is about)

I think it would depend on the ventilation, how close they were to you and if it was constant vaping. I know some of them have pretty strong scents which could perhaps account for a reaction (headaches or feeling something like hayfever allergies?) but wouldn't have thought it would result in feeling physically sick.

I wouldn't be happy about someone vaping in work though, by all means go outside for a break but don't do it in an enclosed space where there are other people having to work. You wouldn't be allowed to smoke there so if someone is trying to quit and vaping because of that reason then it still wouldn't be a place they could do it anyway.

I work with someone who vapes and the smell makes me feel sick. It’s like a sickly berry type smell it’s awful.

As a smoker, I don't mind cigarette smoke but some vapes are foul - can't stand the fruity, soapy ones.

No one should be smoking or vaping indoors IMHO. If your colleague is suffering nicotine withdrawal he could use patches, gum or a nicotine inhaler.

Most places (I believe) treat vaping the same as smoking ie: not allowed indoors. I also hate the sickly aroma of vaping, and also there is no long term data that would suggest its any healthier than smoking. Are you a union member,? I would definitely take this higher up

It's a small office - about 19m2 - with no constant ventilation. It's glass fronted but with just a fire door, no opening windows. It opens on to noisy and very busy road in the city so I won't be sitting with the fire door open. I've just popped out to grab some fresh air and can still smell it quite strongly in here so have to sit with the internal door pinned open, which isn't ideal as that opens out to a shared corridor (serviced offices).

No, we're a really small company. Just me and the boss plus a bunch of guys out on site. The boss is just the kind of guy who does things like telling someone they can vape inside rather than go and get cold because he's trying to be nice, but no really thinking about the fact I might not be so happy with that. I'll just have to have a word.
