Chicken pox

Posting for traffic.
Ds got his first spot 8 days ago after being unwell for 3 days and more are still appearing. Some are very small and don't appear to be properly blistering or scabbing. The first one is huge and has scabbed. Will they ALL scab? Some haven't changed at all since they first appeared. Most have got much bigger, blistered and are scabbing. We are going away on Tuesday (not flying) and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll be ok by then. He's still getting fevers. GP has confirmed it is chicken pox.

They all burst and scab over in my experience x

Could be a viral rash alongside the chickenpox.

Agree with above post but would also like to point out that your dc will be contagious until they have all scabbed up

depends where you are going - we certainly had a very spotty child in a self catering holiday place

Just a cheap hotel chain, eating out or hotel room picnic type thing. Is there any way to speed it all up? He's been unwell 11 days now 😩

They normally scab over within 5-7 days. Sounds like he's been unlucky and he has a more prolonged dose.

The scabs on his scalp have started to come offSmile I've dotted sudocrem on various big ones to help them heal. He spiked a fever of 38 again at dinner time tonight. He first had a fever 12 days ago. Dd had really bad chicken pox and was covered in spots on top of spots and they got infected but even she was over it relatively quickly within a week. Dd1 was even quicker. Thankfully he is finally starting to eat even if it is only sandwiches and he's fine in himself although a bit cranky at times and tired when his temperature goes up.
