Ovulation - is this even a thing?!

Ok, so I know ovulation is a thing, obviously Grin but I am feeling really rough, mild tummy cramps, really nauseous (a bit bad tempered Blush), sugar cravings, bloated - basically ALL the usual period symptoms, but I am not due on for over 2 weeks, but I am ovulating soonish (I think - second line on ovulation test this am was nearly as dark as control line, but not quite).

For context, I am early 30s, last "period" was not really a period - just some v light, dark brown blood when wiping only for about 3 days starting around 24th Jan. I reckon this means I didn't ovulate last month, which leads me to think I am going to ovulate double the amount this time Grin (only joking - sort of Blush!!)

So, basically, why do I feel so awful. Does anyone else get this around ovulation? I feel like I'm going to be sick, I feel rough!

P.S. highly unlikely to be pregnant... although would like to be (just not quite yet!)

Are you sure your period wasn't implantation bleeding ?? You should 100% test

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 11/02/2022 11:55

Also ovulation tests pick up hcg too

MinnieMountain · 11/02/2022 11:56

Could your last “period” have been an implantation bleed? I had that with DS.

JanuaryJones22 · 11/02/2022 11:56

Yup I do! But still test.

Viviennemary · 11/02/2022 11:58

Sounds like being pregnant is certainly a possibility if not quite likely. Do a test.

ThatsALotOfPassionfruit · 11/02/2022 11:59

Well yes I’d be testing just in case.

But in answer to your question, ovulation made me feel awful, worse that my actual period. Low mood, pain, irritable etc

Somethingsnappy · 11/02/2022 11:59

My first thought was 'pregnant!' too!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 11/02/2022 12:01

Definelty do a test.

As an aside, ovulation pain is a "thing" - I have it, it's called Mittelschmirtz (sp).

I get very intense pain, an alternating sides each month, lower back pain, sometimes to the point where I cannot lift my own leg off the floor.

It's awful, tbh, but came in very handy when we were ttc.

Lavender24 · 11/02/2022 12:02

Everyone experiences ovulation differently but this doesn't sound typical to me. I get pains/twinges in my actual ovaries and fallopian tubes but none of the other things you've described. Definitely do a test.

LaBellina · 11/02/2022 12:05

Definitely do a pregnancy test !

Although I have some of these issues too when I ovulate - nauseous feeling for a few hours, slight cramps, sugar cravings and feeling more emotional.

Gizacluethen · 11/02/2022 12:06

Have you done a pregnancy test? Sounds very much like implantation bleeding and pregnancy.

If not, perhaps some hormonal fluctuations if you've just come off contraception. Just your body settling back into its rhythm.

Dottysmum18 · 11/02/2022 12:47

I can 100% tell exactly when I ovulate cramps increased libido and its like a snail has taken residence in my underwear Envy

SprigofSage · 11/02/2022 12:51

Definitely take a pregnancy test, this was EXACTLY what happend to me.

Mydogsbetterthanyours · 11/02/2022 15:31

Thank you everyone! I am going to get a test before school pick up (later today due to a club!) and will report back. I will eat my computer if it's positive, but you never know Grin

Shameless place marking - hope you get the result you want! Though not to be negative, I have also had these symptoms around ovulation. But here's hoping!

HairyScaryMonster · 11/02/2022 16:10

I almost always get this, my ovulation pain is definitely worse than period pain. And feeling crap.

needhelp34 · 11/02/2022 16:27

I find ovulation makes me feel worse than a period. So could be ovulation. However, a lighter period can be a sign of pregnancy. Not ovulating wouldn’t cause a you to have a lighter period

GrandTheftWalrus · 11/02/2022 16:36

I can feel grotty at ovulation. Other times I only know by the change in discharge.

With my 1st I had a very strong ovulation test when I was late and I had bad period pains when I was due on.

Mydogsbetterthanyours · 11/02/2022 17:35

So as not to keep you all hanging, it was negative! Thanks everyone, happy Friday!
