Just said this to my husband about the Christmas lights, we go all out outside & around the house... Doubt we'll be nearly as extravagant this year😭

I'm sure they will. The increase in energy prices will affect those on lower incomes most. People who can generally afford the extravagance will continue to do so.

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/02/2022 09:46

Don’t have any! (Live Christmas, just can’t be gaffes with putting up lights for mostly other people to see Grin)

MorningStarling · 11/02/2022 09:47

Never seen the point of outside lights. I'll have Christmas tree lights up indoors, if the curtains are open people will see them, if they're shut they won't.

It's too early to be thinking about this really.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 11/02/2022 09:49

I’ll put mine along the guttering and in our tree as usual.
December is a dark month and this cheers me up a little. If it means buying less of something else then so be it.

Hospedia · 11/02/2022 09:50

Our outside lights are solar powered so they'll be up as normal.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 11/02/2022 09:54

I've still got mine up (warm white led string) around the inside of the Conservatory Xmas Grin they come on every morning and evening because they give some light to the kitchen and to the dining room and are cheaper to run than a lamp.

You're asking this now? Have you no other concerns before then?
Lucky you!

Ponoka7 · 11/02/2022 09:55

People use things like Christmas lights to cheer themselves up. Just like during lock down, they'll look to little things to make things feel better.

Do you never just have a random thought pop into your head?
Aroundtheworldin80moves · 11/02/2022 10:00

Some people still have them up!

I'm wondering about Hot tubs and pools at the moment.

Soubriquet · 11/02/2022 10:05

I had to double check your date thinking I had amnesia and lost a year Grin

We don’t have outdoor lights. Only indoor

Don't be a twat

LubaLuca · 11/02/2022 10:12

I don't think a string of LED lights will be a major concern for the vast majority of people.

GTAlogic · 11/02/2022 10:13

We have battery lights anyway because we don't have enough plug sockets!

This!
StationaryMagpie · 11/02/2022 10:21

ours are all battery operated.

abigailsnan · 11/02/2022 10:21

I'll be using my battery lights on my outside tree set for 6hrs every day from 4pm they switch off automatically and the batteries I use last about 6/7 days so very cheap for us.
