Hi everyone. To cut a long story short I work in a preschool and I am looking to get pregnant soon with baby number 2. My phase leader and another member of staff are pregnant and are due very close together . There has also been a recent high turnover of staff.
Dh and I have had different views about having another baby . But he has now changed his mind and would like to try for one more baby. Dd is nearly 3. I feel worried to try for a baby right now as I feel like work will have something to say with three of us pregnant in the same small team of five staff with one leaving for a new office job.

Dh believes he is now getting too old and said he wouldn’t like to try next year so would like to try pretty soon.

Aibu to worry about what work think about me trying for a baby now with the current staffing situation

Yes yabu. If this is the time then so be it. The other staff didn't survey who might be pregnant before hand, why should you not get pregnant because someone else is? How far along are your colleagues? They could be off before you're pregnant and back before you leave

@SleepingStandingUp they are not far gone at all. Work know of one of them being 3 months pregnant. The other one hasn’t told work yet and isn’t as far gone x

Just go ahead if that's what you want. I wouldnt let the fact that other members of staff are pregnant influence your decision.

I understand your concern. I'm just back from maternity but we've decided to ttc again as it's right for our family but it's going to be hard for work. I care about them but on this occasion in putting family first.

You have to put your family first, just like the others did. 🙂

You can't plan your family around your employer. If you did you'd never get bloody pregnant as there is never a convenient time for staff to go off on maternity leave! If they are the type to discriminate, then they will do that whether you get pregnant now, next year or in a decade. So there's no point stressing about it right now. And if they do discriminate against you, then you follow grievance procedure and if needs be take it to tribunal, and well I've been there done that and got the t-shirt but all is well in the end and I wouldn't go back and change things.

Yes absolutely put your family first op. Do what's right for you xx

It may take many months for it to happen, if at all. Why are you worried? They can’t fire you for being pregnant. What exactly do you think they are going to do? Nothing that will have any impact, that’s for sure.
