I think within the next few years when my kids are at school I would like to have a career change where there is opportunities to progress and earn decent money not like in my career I have now.

I was thinking of looking at a mortgage advisor or something within finance. I'm happy to start from the bottom but would like progression and to not be on terrible money.

I would like to avoid going back to uni if I can would like to train on the job in a way.

So if In your 30s your fed up and you want a career change what would you pick to do or help me find something 🤣

Also I know not a aibu but posting for traffic xx

If you’d like to see some other posters’ experiences of career change you may like to browse the Mature Study and Retraining board, here:

Think there are over a hundred threads now.

What about joining the civil service? Quite a few apprentice roles advertised right now, if you go to civil service jobs online you’ll see them. Good pension, fairly decent money and lots of opportunity to get promoted or change direction to a completely different department. My team we are very flexible, work flexi hours, can do part time / term time only if desired.

I am currently having a career change, well a sidestep really. I am in education. I have been studying for three years and have almost completed my second course. One was a year part time and this one is two years part time. After the first course I set up my own business in the area related to the course so have been working whilst finishing the final degree course. It's extremely hard work and I am completely knackered but nearly at the end. I am 40.

I think Barclays Bank do apprenticeships for mortgage advisors (and advertise the fact that they're happy to recruit mature people)
