To ask if you can recommend a loan company

I gave up my job due to a stay in a psychiatric hospital and I'm too unwell to work.

Universal Credit have missed off my additional payment for limited capability for work related activity and deducted ESA from my standard allowance (my ESA has covered my car insurance, diesel and 2 weeks food) which means I have £0 to get through the month.

I'm desperately trying to borrow a small amount around £200.

Any advice welcome.

I've used zopa previously but notnundwr the same circumstances. Have you had a check on MSE website? There's a wealth of information on there and I believe a eligibility checker for various financial products which doesn't impact your credit rating. Good luck OP

Hello everyone
We've had a number of reports from people concerned about this thread so, as we usually do in these circs, we're putting our heads round the door with some important reminders.

Right now we can't see any evidence to indicate that the OP isn't above board – if we did, we'd remove the thread straight away. But the truth is that, sadly, we at MNHQ can't know with 100% certainty that any poster is genuine, no matter who they are or how long they have been here. As frustrating as it is, we're not able to vouch for anyone here.

So we always ask users to remember that not everyone on the internet is who they say they are – and remind folk not to give more to another poster, either financially (in cash or gifts) or emotionally (in time or care and support) than they'd be prepared to lose if things went wrong. We strongly advise against parting with any cash or giving away your personal details, and if you receive a PM which makes you uneasy - report it to us and we’ll take a look.

Sorry to hijack your thread briefly there, OP – we really hope you get it all sorted soon. In the meantime, you might find some useful information on our guide for dealing with financial difficulty

If they have missed of a payment surely that's their mistake? So they should actually pay you what they owe you. Have you contacted them ?

CorrBlimeyGG · 10/02/2022 13:55

Please speak to the DWP. If it is their error, they can do a same day payment.

Also speak to CAB. They can help you access emergency funds and also the food bank. Our council are giving vouchers for people in difficulty at the moment, your CAB will know if your council have anything similar (it's called the Household Support Fund).

What outgoings have you got until the end of the month?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/02/2022 14:52

I don't think you can even get a loan if you're on UC, can you?

Name99 · 10/02/2022 14:54

UC offer advance payments, if they've made a mistake when it's rectified you can pay it back in one lump to them

SailingNotSurfing · 10/02/2022 16:31

Can you ask friends and family to help out? They may not be able to give you the whole amount but every little bit helps. I’m so sorry you’re in this predicament and if you were my friend/sister/daughter I’d willingly offer to loan you some cash.

Hi @somewheresunny0, I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time.

I work as a welfare rights advisor so hope I can provide a little advice r.e. the UC side of things ?

Just so I can advise correctly, can I ask when your UC claim started and when you were notified the LCWRA payment would be added onto your claim ?

strawberrymilkshake123 · 10/02/2022 19:55

Also can I ask if you are receiving, ( or have applied for), PIP ?

Do you have enough food in your house ? If you are running low, please contact The Trussell Trust via the helpline below , ( it is a partnership with citizen's advice), as they will be able to link you in with both an emergency food parcel and CAB help to get the LCWRA issue resolved
