To ask how long for a viral infection to go away

I know this is a bit how long is a piece of string, but I just need advice and no responses on the medical boards.

I had a viral infection of unknown origin, not covid. Was in so much pain ended up in hospital for a few days for pain management and further tests. Concluded viral, take painkillers and rest.

That was week one.

Week two, stayed in bed and slept the whole time.

This is now week three. I've been trying to work, managed a couple hours in the morning and then had to sleep for three hours at lunchtime.

Gp has nothing to add, will sign me off work for as long as I want.

But I just want to feel better and be able to work without dripping in sweat and falling asleep and taking painkillers.

So how long is normal to take to recover from a virus and is there anything I can do to help myself?

Unfortunately when I had one before Christmas I was off work for 3 weeks, and then it probably took a further 2 weeks or so to get my energy levels back.
Don't rush it, take as much time off as you need. Another couple of days when you feel fine could be better than going back too early and having to then take more time off again

You may have post viral syndrome.

I’ve had it for 14 weeksSadacupuncture has helped tremendously though.

I caught RSV from my son and was poorly for about 4 weeks.
