Pedestrian Rage

OMG - cyclists are out of control. See my previous thres re cars and cyclists.

Today for the first time in my life I got hit twice by cyclists.

Central London busy wide road over one of the bridges - central island between the two lanes of traffic and the obligatory cycle lane.
Light controlled pedestrian crossing.

Standing on the pavement waiting for the green man - 3 cyclists come up on the pavement obviously going to cross. Facing me are two cyclists on the central reservation and 3 on the far side of the road.

Couple of cyclists in the cycle lane, 2 cyclists in the middle of the near road- why- bcause they can!

Start to cross as green man lights up got a wheel in the back of my calf from a cyclist, had to stop mid road as a second weaved across me, made it to the safety of the central reservation- but not safe, now have 3 cyclists coming towards me 3 infront of me 2 more behind and a couple of push chairs trying to make their way across.

Make it to the other side, having stopped at least 3 mor times to let entitled cyclists criss cross and tried not to get hit. Am on the pavement turning to my right, when cyclist hurtles across the pedestrian crossing onto the pavement wallops me on the shoulder , hits a push chair and swears at the bloody pedestrians. My bloody shoulder had just settled from a frozen shoulder but the ache suggests it is back again - thanks wanker!

Cyclists can now go anywhere, anytime and the safety of others is of no importance.

One place not every place and a god given right that they trump cars, pedestrians children etc. This is bloody ridiculous

YANBU - there are more and more cyclists on pavements now and I'm sick of being whizzed past with centimetres to spare.

I say this as someone who doesn't drive, so not in the 'pesky cyclists blocking the road for cars' camp.

YANBU. I was walking through the pedestrianised outdoor area of our local shopping centre when 3 bikes ridden by males in their mid/ late teens passed me (and others) with at best a cm or 2 to spare, weaving through. If any of us had happened to take a step to the side we would have been knocked over and injured. Bikes and electric scooters are a real worry, particularly for those who have any form of sight/ hearing impairment.

I don't think this applies to ALL or MOST cyclists, but it does to some. At least drivers usually don't expect pedestrians to manoeuvre around them - or at least not on a pedestrian crossing.Occasionally cyclists assume that everyone can just co-ordinate their movements with those of the cyclist. I have some visual processing problems, which are why I don't drive or cycle in traffic, and also why, if possible, I cross the road only at pedestrian crossings. I've almost never had drivers going ahead when the light is green and I'm crossing, but I've had that from cyclists several times, and have even been told to 'get a fucking move on' if I'm too slow, or wait for them to get past when they're moving.

I do realize that cyclists also have problems with aggressive drivers.

The amount of deliveroo/just eat cycles on the pavements is ridiculous.
They seem to think they get priority because of their job. It’s not safe, too many pedestrians get hurt because of their sense of entitlement.

I’ve been shouted at for taking up the pavement before by a cyclist. It was the school run and me and the children had spread out on the pavement. Normally if someone is walking we have enough time to get out of their way. But a cyclist comes at speed behind us. Starts shouting that we are taking up the pavement. We start to move out of the way, but we are too slow and force the guy into an emergency stop. He starts swearing at us for forcing him to stop. I get upset and tell him “to use the bloody road”. I get told to “fuck off” and he cycles on his way.
