To think it's ok to gift clothes from Choice (Next discount shop) for a baby shower?

Going to a baby shower of a extended family member, not overly close. Looking to spend £25ish for the baby and DP and I disagree on something;

I think £25 in Choice is still Next quality clothes but would be able to get several bits.

DP thinks it's 'cheapy' and would be better to get one or two things in Next.

(Tags show that its Next items but clearly bought from Choice)

WIBU?

If you don’t know how the family member feels about discounted stuff then it’s better to just get a next voucher

We have a big Choice near my office and it's the 'go to' shop for baby gifts either for office colleagues or friends and family. We're quite competitive to get the nicest stuff at the best prices!!

What is it with people and baby clothes? They grow out of them in like a week. It doesn't matter.
If they turn their noses up at it then they don't deserve anything.

Choice can be great for discounted Next/M&S stuff so for baby clothes I'd definitely go.

I would buy next personally, and I always buy 3-6 months .

I’ve never heard of Choice before but it sounds great and I’d personally be thrilled to receive stuff from there! Presumably you know this person quite well if you’re going to their baby shower. Can you not hazard a guess about whether they’re likely to be the my baby must have the best of everything and I sneer at discounts type?

I keep seeing this advice. My baby now has more 3-6 than she’ll ever wear because it’s what everyone bought, and we had to buy lots of extra newborn and 0-3!

I agree, we got no newborn stuff except from my neighbour which I was delighted with and DD was straight in them. I have loads of the bigger sizes especially 3-6 and 6-9. We had to go out and buy a lot of newborn as we didn't have enough. If I'm buying for babies I'll always buy newborn stuff now, possibly 0-3.
