To think about toxic shock syndrome

Every time I have my period and feel under the weather? Not sure if it was just growing up in the late 90s (we had a big talk in school about tampons and TSS), but when I feel unwell on my period (slight rash, cold, tight chested - obviously I don’t get these symptoms each month and are always unrelated!), I automatically get scared I’ve got TSS. Never enough to actually call 111, as I’m British and don’t want to make a fuss. So just quietly lie in bed, thinking that this is my last night on earth, until 30mins before my alarm is set, when I fall soundly asleep.

It’s funny timing for me as I was just saying to a friend despite how scary and seemingly everywhere it was in the 90s/early 00s, you don’t really hear much about TSS these days.

It sounds quite difficult OP. I don’t think about TSS at all in all honesty. When I’m feeling rough on my period I just assume it’s my period making me feel poorly. I’m sorry to hear it’s so stressful for you. Do you have health anxiety in other areas?

My friend, lost a close friend back in the early 90s to TSS.

I feel nauseous wearing tampons. No idea why as I'm generally not that sensitive to things feeling weird. Its not tss but I don't know what causes it.

@Sparklesocks
Thanks, sorry was meaning it more of a lighthearted way. Just more the things you think about when kept up with period pain in the middle of the night! I just remember reading the tampax instructions in my teens and it’s always stuck with me.

In the 90s I was terrified and literally thought I’d die if I used tampons. I use a mooncup now, loads better!
At the moment what’s keeping me up is phantom contractions even though I’m only 37 weeks and they’re not painful just tight!
