Name changed. Seeking perspective re very sensitive subject matter.
We live in a small community. Gossip can be rife in such places.
We are long term friends with an elderly couple who we knew for many years prior to living here. Someone told me todat
that some people in the village avoid the male.of the couple as some years ago he had an ankle tag on as he had been convicted of viewimg indecent images of children.
I would never mix with someone who did that.
I I asked the person who told me was she sure as I was shocked and she aid she was but to go amd ask the person who told her.
I feel really upset and unsure how to.proceed.
If I ask the woman( pun
B landlady) and it gets back to him that ive asked ( as it will in a small village), it would really hurt him and his wife, however there is no way I would be complicit or ignore if it is true. I am not being u to be upset but I
Aibu in all this as I feel very unsure how to proceed.
