I’m a Receptionist, there are four of us whom all work part time. Our Manager has made it abundantly clear in the past that we need to be at our desks and starting work at our actual shift start time (eg. If we start at 8am then we need to be ready, sat down and starting our shift at 8am) rather than entering the building at 8am. Ok fair enough.
However…she always, without fail, leaves the building at her finish time - and I mean on the very second she finishes she’s out the door and gone! This seems hypocritical to me and as she’s therefore shutting down her pc, getting her coat on, bag etc. prior to her shift actually finishing!
AIBU to think this is double standards? It’s a petty thing but it really pisses me off, particularly because she doesn’t even say goodbye or let us know she’s leaving, she just slips quietly out the door. It’s an ongoing joke amongst all staff that she does this.
Secondly, she cuts out her lunch break so that she can leave early every day but when I mentioned that I regularly don’t get my half an hour (unpaid) break on 2 out of 4 of my shifts, as it’s often busy, she just shrugged and said “well you should make sure you do” when clearly I was hinting at either getting it paid or leaving half an hour earlier like she does.
Again - double standards and flouting her position or AIBU?
