To ask your Mumsnet gems

I know there can be a lot of negativity, especially in AIBU! There is a lot of good advice on here though and life hacks etc.

What are the useful/ positive things you've taken from Mumsnet? For me it's the phrase "that doesn't work for us" when dealing with awkward or pushy people and the support on the Stately Homes section.

What are your Mumsnet gems?

It's a cliche but "This too shall pass" got me through the newborn and toddler stage (still holds pretty well now that we're in primary-school-age too!).

For me Mumsnet hasn't been about getting advice as such but having women (because lets face it most users here are women) there to listen and offer a shoulder to cry on. Mumsnet users held me up when I had to crawl through the pit of despair that is infertility and the following treatments. They also metaphorically held my hand and told me I wasn't a failure when I struggled to breastfeed my first child and told me it was ok to put my own health (mental and physical) first.

Mumsnet is bloody awesome in so many ways and those Twitter-based hoards who are gunning for it better be prepared for what will hit them!

@cavemum so glad things worked out for you! That expressed is very true!

Mumsnet is a gem. There have been so many times when I have literally been crying with laughter at the hilarious and utterly genius posts I've read here. I'm also always amazed by the support people get here when they're in abusive relationships or struggling with newborn babies etc. I get that there are disagreements etc but it's not often I come across genuinely nasty posters.

Also reading the £10 a day thread has saved my arse. Grin
