Am I being sensitive?

I was walking to the town centre tonight. It's only a ten minute walk or two stops on the bus. I've been ill and still am, so when the bus was coming along, I hopped on.

When I asked for a ticket to the town centre, the driver pulled a face and just sat there, so I said it was only two stops. He then shook his head and said I must have more money than sense.

Now, there are lots of reasons someone might want to take a bus a few stops and who is the driver to judge? It's made me feel a bit shit, but maybe I'm thinking too much into it?

He was being odd. If you want to pay to go two stops, he should take your money. Not up to him how you spend your cash.

Idontevenknow · 02/02/2022 17:39

Yes he was judgemental and unnecessarily rude. Don't let it get to you though- he was the ignorant one and you didn't do anything wrong. Don't give it another thought

He was being weird. He is the bus driver. He drives the bus, it's not his place to judge where people get on and off.

If you really feel like it I'd probably drop an email to the company, you don't need to state the time or route but just a general "please educate your drivers on invisible disabilities, illness etc".

You can get on or off a bus whenever you like, just for fun if you like. Who cares what some bus driver thinks of you? I got shouted at by a bus driver the other week for needing to take my child for a quick wee at a stop (replacement bus for train) and just laughed it off saying it's better than the smell of wee wee.

Awful behaviour. I would be making a complaint about his attitude

Giraffesandbottoms · 02/02/2022 18:03

He’s completely unreasonable. Are you overweight? If so, complain to the company as this seems like discrimination based on your size

PigFaceForever · 02/02/2022 18:05

Thank you for your replies.

@giraffesandbottoms, I am overweight and felt he might be judging me for this.

How ridiculous of him! He drives the bus not policies how people do their journeys. But ignore, don't worry and well done for getting out even if you didn't feel 100%.
