Look at this monstrosity of a subject line!

AIBU to tell Deliveroo to sort it out?

You've redacted for privacy reasons - I take it this was 'Auntie Susan sent yourself a gift card' in which case YA 100% NBU. Misused reflexive pronouns enrage me.

Urrrrrrrgh doom.

'You sent yourself a gift card'

Sounds fine to me.

Yes, the actual text is DS' football team so pretty identifiable. 'Auntie Susan sent yourself a gift card' reads like it was written by an estate agent.

I have found my people!
This is something that really grates on me. I can inwardly seethe and ignore it most of the time but when someone tries to “correct” my perfectly grammatical use of I or me to “myself” they get a full lesson on what a reflexive pronoun is in my best teacher voice.

Kill them. Kill them all!

MrsTophamHat · 31/01/2022 19:00

Eurgh! I hate this!

lookforthesun · 31/01/2022 19:03

YANBU! That’s horrific!

LetsGoParty · 31/01/2022 19:09

😂😂
This is why I could never buy my kids a my little pony. I wouldn't have been able to say here is your my little pony.

EishetChayil · 31/01/2022 19:17

The estate agent reflexive!

I've emailed their customer service centre. It'll be interesting to see how they respond. I imagine it will give someone a laugh at least!

Good for you. YANBU at all.

StayOrGoOrWhat · 31/01/2022 21:14

Awful. Why is there so much 'myself' and 'yourself' now. I am seriously starting to doubt myself over when they should be used!!

BigYellowHat · 31/01/2022 21:17

I actually have to laugh at call centre twerps tying themselves up in knots with all the yourselves, ourselves and myselves etc 😂
