To think I've finally lost the plot.

I have a backpack for my cats. I'm disabled and it makes getting to the vets easier than trying to manoeuvre a cat carrier and my frame.

Today I decided to surprise the children and took one of the cats on the school run Grin

He was very happy and the DC were well impressed. Well, except DS1 who is 13 and got home before us and began panicking that we'd lost a cat until he phoned me and called me nuts when he realised what I'd done.

So
YABU - you've lost it woman, get some help
YANBU - it's a genius idea

To think I've finally lost the plot.

YANBU. Everything is 'so cringe' at 13. I think this is cute!

minipie · 31/01/2022 17:04

YANBU! If the cat enjoys it, how is this different from bringing the dog on the school run?

catscatscatseverywhere · 31/01/2022 17:06

Your cat is very cute. As long as he/she enjoyed the school run, let it be😂

catscatscatseverywhere · 31/01/2022 17:07

Ooh sorry, you said it’s male

FrankGrillosFloof · 31/01/2022 17:09

I have a backpack for my cat. If she halfway tolerated it, I would take her EVERYWHERE. Unfortunately, she makes it very clear that she does not enjoy mobilisation one bit so we’re restricted to the vet’s and back only Sad

5YearsLeft · 31/01/2022 17:12

YANBU. Life is too short. Invent a new plot, involving you and the adventures of your Backpack Cat, especially if DCat enjoys it. You can be happy or you can worry about others judging you, but you’ll rapidly find there isn’t enough time for both. Choose the cat. Wink

iklboo · 31/01/2022 17:12

My cats have asked where you got it from. They're getting Ideas.

Campervangirl · 31/01/2022 17:13

I love you crazy cat lady ❤️😻

AllOfUsAreDead · 31/01/2022 17:15

You're nuts, but who cares? All of us cat people are. We allow ourselves to be ruled by cats.

HerRoyalHappiness · 31/01/2022 17:15

Grin thanks. It came from amazon. Its amazing.
It's honestly one of the best things I've ever bought. Happy cat and happy me

I think this is fabulous! The cat is happy, the kids were happy. Win win!

Valkyrie40 · 31/01/2022 17:19

Haha! Thanks for making me laugh OP. If I saw a cat in a backpack it'd make my day!

When I used to live in a more erm.."alternative" area there were a couple of people who walked their cats on leads. And why not?

thenewduchessoflapland · 31/01/2022 17:19

I think my 6 month old kitten would adore this

Sideswiped · 31/01/2022 17:22

When my DC were little, one of the families brought their ferrets to the school on leads.... Grin

ClariceQuiff · 31/01/2022 17:24

My two would go bananas if I tried to put them into backpacks Grin. Great that yours enjoys it.

HerRoyalHappiness · 31/01/2022 17:30

I think everyone who's cat would let them should start walking their cats in backpacks Grin

My kids would have loved it if I had brought the cat to school on a backpack 😁 unfortunately I don't think the cat would have appreciated it and would have done his damnedest to get out!! 🤣🤣

Livebythecoast · 31/01/2022 17:48

I've seen these and think they're great but I doubt my huge, fat ragdoll cat would fit in one without being all squished up and pay me back by chucking a hairball up on my head while I sleep Grin

AwkwardSquad · 31/01/2022 17:51

I’d love to take my cat for a promenade on one of those. Unfortunately, judging by our experiences with the cat carrier, it’d end, um… messily.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 31/01/2022 18:15

DS and DDiL won a family photoshoot. They have no children but they do have a much loved cat so they bought a backpack like yours, spent a few weeks getting him used to it and had their photos taken featuring the cat in a bag!

grapewine · 31/01/2022 18:18

That is one cute cat 🥰

LondonQueen · 31/01/2022 18:20

At least the car enjoyed the school run! I think it's cute.

MrsMoastyToasty · 31/01/2022 18:22

Our cats go to school by themselves. In fact they think they are on the support staff due to their rodent control capabilities.

FWIW we live next door to the school.

VivX · 31/01/2022 18:31

YANBU

If I had greeted my cat-loving teens with a cat like this, they would have loved it. They would also have thought I'd lost the plot but that would have paled insignificance in the excitement.

Sadly for us it is not practical due to the lack of both a cat backpack and a compliant cat.

Michino · 31/01/2022 18:34

My cats used to walk the 100 yards to school with DH and the kids. They would wait while he dropped them off, then walk back home with him!
