AIBU to find music at the gym too loud?

I don’t want my hearing blasted when I'm doing class. Yet others don’t seem to have an issue so guess it's my sensitive hearing. Anyone else have this issue and if so what earplugs / ear defenders do you use?

Music can be a tad loud at a certain gym I go to, though it's in the main gym, not classes. It's a small gym and the speaker is in the corner - they always whack it up too high and are mightily resistant to turning it down. Makes that particular corner unusable. I can recommend Howard Leight Laser Lite ear plugs though - they're marvellous for blocking out sound. Quite cheap and I buy them in bulk!

Yanbu.
It seems to depend on the teacher.
My favourite teacher has the music loud enough to keep us going but not so loud that we have to shout or watch her like a hawk to almost lip read her.
In the past I've complained about teachers who have it pointlessly loud.

Do the instructors in classes not have headsets? The reason I love certain classes like Pump is because the music is fun and adds to the atmosphere. The instructor has a headset so never any difficulty hearing her.

In the main gym I don't mind, it would be boring if it was quiet, and helps block out the sound of men grunting.

I listen to my own music now, but before I could afford headphones the music never bothered me.

BigbreastsBiggerbeard thanks for the ear plug recommendation.

This is one of the reasons I stopped going to gyms.

Just....email the gym and request they reduce the volume.

You won't be the only one.

Agreed. And it’s generally awful. I’m part of the snap fitness chain. Don’t think they have an option to turn it down.

I just wear my own earphones but have to have my music really loud to drown out whatever junk they’re playing.

I home gym and like music loud so I don't hear the cracking and clicking of my arthritis knees when I'm lifting. Had to lift with no music once as Spotify was playing up... never again!!
