Getting to see a doctor…

This is a rant and very big rant!

I found a lump on my breast - about the size of a 10p piece, spoke to the GP surgery I had to send an econsult which I did, it took them 5 days to respond, then they arrange a telephone consultation for a week later (absolutely pointless) GP said they needed to see me - again another weeks wait to see the GP.

GP wasn’t fussed and said it’s a cyst…but wanted to see me in 2 weeks, and will do a referral just to be on the safe side…since then I’ve had a small red bruise appear and some discharge

Phoned today to ask for a call back as I am getting increasingly concerned - they have no appointments for phone calls till next week - right ok and no 2 week appointment in the diary someone had deleted it as I’d been seen! They also haven’t done the referral…

I am so bloody angry!!!!

I also have IDB and needed some more meds it was like asking for the blood of their first born child…

I’m currently googling private gp’s which can do a referral - which is boiling my blood as I pay shit loads of tax for a NHS service which isn’t fit for fucking purpose!

It’s disgusting OP. The NHS is an absolute shambles. No you should NOT have to pay to go private whilst you are forced to contribute to the shit show that is the NHS

I know it’s probably nothing (maybe an infection) but I’m worried sick about it and it’s taken me 5 weeks to get no where.

I can’t even think of another way 111 will say see your GP, a&e isn’t the right place and neither is MIU.

I called the breast clinic and they said I needed a referral to be seen…

I don’t blame you for being angry and upset. It’s far from satisfactory.

Try Livi, GP online appointment for £30.

But in the meantime please do complain to any or all of:

Many GPs are offering a fantastic service at the moment so the ones that aren't need calling out.

That is terrible!

I put in an E consult for a breast lump, was rung same day and offered an apt the same day. Gp referred me to breast clinic at the hospital and I was seen and mammogram etc within a week.

They said that things like that are urgent and need to pushed through asap.

There are such disparities between areas it’s shocking.

Sorry your having trouble with the GP. I'm going through the same, no lump though, just breast pain, I went to the Doctors on the 17th Jan after a phone call on the 14th and I was referred to the Breast clinic and they called me to arrange an appointment on the 19th for my appointment today, 31st, so just over two weeks when when I was originally seen.

My doctors have an 'online reception' where you can email them, do yours have anything like that? I can never get through via phone.

@Purplewithred I’ve downloaded the app but I don’t have my purse on me for the ID check as I use my phone if I need something…

I will do it as soon as I get home.

I’ve written a complaint to the practice manager.

It’s just shocking
