Posting here for traffic as I thought this might get missed in DIY.
So.. we bought an ikea kitchen in 2017 it’s white it has white doors white cover panels etc. The cover panels have yellowed, not just like settled in kind of change of colour - like they are actually a creamy yellow compared to the the rest of the kitchen. So we have a crazy mellow yellow stripe between appliances and on the end of the kitchen. Also the edges of the doors which seem to be made from the same material have started to yellow. On some of the doors where the edging material meets the door the glue is visible and this has gone very dark. Basically it looks a mess.
We were part of a large group of customers who bought a kitchen in 2017 from ikea and had the fit botched by a company that ikea employed freelance to fit it.
They were great they refitted the kitchen with another supplier and at the time we were happy enough after a massive wait, (over three months!) with no kitchen and three small kids.
So basically I have a white kitchen with yellow stripes which look awful that’s been fitted twice. I contacted IKEA with photos and then videos, they have replied to say… wait for it… it’s “normal” and that we should just accept the yellow stripes. Obviously nobody is going to do that. So I’m wondering, is your white ikea kitchen still white? Are you part of the large group of people who had to have their kitchen refitted/delayed in 2017 has that kitchen caused you further problems? And also if anybody has any trading standards or legal advice for me if he very pleased to find out where we stand. I’m going to contact trading standards today. Just to be clear also- I really am not interested in any replies which say yellowing is normal.
