Neighbour noise

Hello,
We have moved into a flat and have one floor of flats above us. The people above us seem to make quite a bit of impact noise - lots of crashing around, doors and cupboards slamming sounds etc. I would describe it that for several times a day everyday, sometimes for a couple of hours at a time they make constant noise like they are moving furniture, dragging boulders, banging and crashing.
As a result we will likely move out at the end of our contract as flat living likely isn't for us. But in the meantime should we say something to these people? Ask what is going on or request they keep it down? Or is that unreasonable? I guess maybe it's just normal living but the soundproofing may be bad? They are tenants same as us. Not sure if saying something will actually have any effect or just cause bad blood.

If you're planning to go soon OP I'd suck it up rather than cause aggro for next few months.

Have been there - it's awful and absolutely takes up all your energy - if you have a "get out plan" then stay quiet and count the days

What kind of building is it? If it's a converted house, ordinary living noise can sound so loud in the other part of the house.

It's a block of flats, they look ex council built approx 1960s I think. I didn't expect to hear anything as there is concrete between each floor.

I live in a flat (not a converted house) and hear my neighbours all the time as they have laminate flooring, I’ve not said anything, if you’re moving then I wouldn’t.

Some people are just very noisy doing anything. It depends how long your contract is and how long you can bear the noise.

We have a ground floor apartment and upstairs makes so much noise just cleaning. But it's not loud music and it's not late. Impact noises are very annoying.

Yes exactly we don't hear loud music and the noises are not during sleeping. Contract is a year with a 6 month clause. We have done one month so far.

I couldn't cope for five months without saying anything.

Just do the innocent face and ask if they have a schedule for their renovation work. Grin

I politely asked upstairs to keep it down once - there is good soundproofing here - and they were fine and very apologetic.
