To want to know the cause of my stomach pain

Dishwashersaurous · 28/01/2022 20:45

I have been suffering with really intense stomach pain, like labour pains but worse to give context.

Had an MRI and blood tests but all.came back completely clear, so the doctors have said that nothing to worry about . So nothing they can do.

Doctors have said to just keep on taking painkillers and nothing more to be done.

So aibu to actually want to know what is wrong with me, and not just carry on taking painkillers for an unidentified period of time.

Could it be IBS? This is what I get when mines kicks off. Try buscopan or immodium Ibs relief then if it helps you know what it is

Kidney stones? They are more around your sides and back as well as abdomen but definitely rivalled labour pains for me. Gallstones? Usually a bit higher but also v painful.

I vote IBS too.

Try the FODMAP diet.

Thanks. I've never had any digestive issues in 40 plus years but I will look into it

Ovulation?

Whereabouts is the pain? Stomach or intestine area, to one side? I have found GPs to fob off with painkillers far too often and not be interested in getting to the route of the problem, and this isn't a new thing, it's always been the case. Recently I actually had the best chat with a nurse practitioner over an ongoing problem. She was far more helpful than the three GPs I had spoken to previously, and gave practical and realistic advice that I have put into practice and is now working. It was also stomach pains and acid reflux related. The GPs just kept saying "well if you don't get better we'll have to stick a camera down your throat", when actually that would be a pointless exercise.

Of course you are not BU. Is the pain recurring?

The tests that have been done may rule out certain diagnoses, but (as PP said) they have not identified the root of the problem.

Push the GPs for a referral to a specialist.

Ovarian cyst? I've been in pain for two weeks because of one.

gamerchick · 29/01/2022 11:33

We could try and guess but just saying stomach pain means actual stomach to me which isn't appendix area. Is that the only thing? Nothing else like the squits?

Sosososotired · 29/01/2022 11:46

I used to get a lot of pain in my stomach, plus diarrhoea and bowl cramps. Pretty typical ibs or lactose intolerance symptoms yet gp never suggested them. I have stopped dairy and it has all gone away. You need to be more specific about how long you've had the pain and exactly where it is for us to help though.

Started Monday. Mainly on lower right hand side. But tender and sore all over

Gallstones perhaps? The pain would normally be in the upper right abdomen but can radiate out, the pain can be really severe x

Dishwashersaurous · 29/01/2022 12:07

Would gallstones show up on a ct scan?

Sorry not being clear. In lots if pain struggling to walk, let alone type.

Monday. Pain started.
Tuesday saw gp. Said go to a&e.
Two days in hospital. Ct and bloods normal .

Hospital said go home. Nothing can do.

So at home curled up in pain taking strong painkillers and don't know what to do next
