My Mum is turning 70 in Feb and I wanted to take her to the Ritz for Afternoon Tea - but its booked up on the date we wanted to go on, please could anyone recommend the best venues for afternoon tea either in Central London or North London ..?

Thanks :)

@Fujimora

Fortnum and Mason.
I know someone who went there for afternoon tea and wasn't overly impressed with the service. In her opinion it was not as good as a Betty's

@Belledan1

My friend went on a tour bus that went round london and had afternoon tea.
Oh yes my sister did this for a birthday treat snd loved it

Yes so did mine. Think cost a bit but had like unlimited prosecco but you could do cheaper packages.

The langham- pure class and not showy. My mom cried

Another vote for Fortnums.

I think the Ritz is good for a special meal but not that great for afternoon tea.

Claridges is wonderful but I think your mum might prefer Fortnum & Mason as then you can have a look around the shop afterwards and pick up some fancy biscuits, tea, chocolate etc.

I went to The Chesterfield in Mayfair before Christmas. That was lovely

I took mine to the Dorchester and I'd highly recommend it.

The Dorchester is very special! When I went it was very peaceful and exclusive, the pianist was great and the staff couldn't have been more lovely!

The tea at the Athenaeum on Piccadilly is nice for tea. You have to book usually to get in.

Savoy hotel is lovely. Tables spaced out. Staff lovely. Nicer than Cafe Royale

Claridges is amazing. But it might well be booked up by now.

The Goring (or Claridges)

Helpful post thank you

I and my siblings treated our parents to afternoon tea at Claridges for their Golden Wedding present. They loved the whole experience. It was the option with pink champagne.

The Landmark Hotel by Marylebone Station is really nice and they have a pianist.
The Ritz afternoon tea is not in the Palm Court at the moment due to renovations.

They are only serving atm on Friday, sat, sun - just an FYI as I tried to book this recently! Just in case anyone is interested. I've been before and it is lovely

Sketch is amazing, and the food is fantastic.
