The parents of this tiny 8 week-old got 7.5 years and 8 years for breaking 65 bones in her tiny body.

How? Just how is someone (her parents) so depraved that you would do that? And why, although nothing would atone for it, are the sentences so pathetic when they will probably get out so much sooner?

Plus they were given another derisory 2 months for cruelty to another child.

Please god they will never be parents again.

Had a brief read through as I don't like to soak up too much if this as just too sickening

Dunno what to say really. It's just shocking. Give the baby away, why aren't people just doing this instead of killing them?

They're just monsters

Suzi888 · 28/01/2022 16:20

YANBU
I haven’t read it as it plays on my mind too much but you are right.
Life isn’t worth a jot these days.

Asperula · 28/01/2022 16:21

Awful. Poor kid.
I remember years ago a couple getting away with murder because they remained silent so it couldn't be proven which of them killed their child.
I wonder if the law changed since then to "causing or allowing" to get round this issue. It's still too short a sentence though. I suppose they'd have got more if they could prove which of them did it.

MrsTimRiggins · 28/01/2022 16:22

I can’t read it, I can’t handle it. I have my 12 week old son asleep on my lap and the thought of him suffering even the tiniest fraction of what that poor angel went through… it breaks my heart. How could they? Evil, through and through.

Suzi888 · 28/01/2022 16:22

“Please god they will never be parents again.” I hope they’re taken care of on the inside…. I don’t see the point in their existence. (Sorry if that offends).

Much as I don't agree with the death penalty, you have a point.

Mind you, if there's any truth in it, baby Star's murderer isn't suffering Angry

I know how you feel. It’s unimaginable isn’t it?
SnottyLottie · 28/01/2022 16:30

I first read about this case this morning and was horrified. Then I realised they were being sentenced today and was shocked I hadn’t heard about the case before this. Which is even more shocking considering how young she was. I remember reading about Arthur and Star’s murder trials as they were occurring. Has it been prominent in the media?

Asperula · 28/01/2022 16:33

I've seen it in the news before as I remember their faces

Somethingsnappy · 28/01/2022 16:36

I read that too about Star's murderer. She sounded happy according to the newspaper reports Angry

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 28/01/2022 16:37

I really do think that some people should be forcibly sterilised. If they behave like depraved animals, neuter them like animals. Hell, I'd argue for euthanasia in some cases.

That poor poor baby. I just don't get it. Adoption is a thing. Have your child adopted if you don't want to care for them. What the fuck is the matter with people?

Suzanne999 · 28/01/2022 16:41

The cruelty to the baby is horrific. The prison sentences pathetic.
I’m sure the mother will be on SS radar in the future but the father could reproduce with anyone with no checks ever done.
Why do parents do this? Drugs? Drink? I totally get someone snapping under stress but this is far, far more.

Goldbar · 28/01/2022 16:42

The reason that the sentence doesn't reflect the seriousness of the crime is because of the lack of proof as to who actually inflicted the injuries (which would be murder). Instead, it seems there was only sufficient evidence to convict them of the lesser crime, with a more lenient sentence. So it's shocking because at least one of them has effectively gotten away with murder, because it couldn't be proved beyond reasonable doubt. I think the child neglect sentence should have been longer though.

Kudupoo · 28/01/2022 17:40

I absolutely believe we don't value children and childhood enough in our society.
I also think there needs to be an approach for cases like this where either (or both) could be a murderer and either (or both) could allow the cruelty as this isn't an uncommon dynamic in child abuse.
The absolute depravity. That baby deserved nothing but comfort, kindness and love, as all do.

Suzi888 · 28/01/2022 18:21

@Nanny0gg baby Star, another case I didn’t really read- I just can’t. I don’t understand why they don’t take their children to a police station and hand them over, say they can’t cope/don’t want them. Why do they carry out these atrocious acts that lead to imprisonment. They must know they’ll get caught eventually. What is the point in it all.

There doesn’t seem to be much good in the world anymore.

MistyFrequencies · 28/01/2022 18:26

Someone should break 65 bones in each of those fuckwits bodies. Then leave them in pain.. It's just horrific what some people are capable of doing to poor little babies.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 28/01/2022 18:28

Probably because some of them enjoy it. Quite a few of the children who died have families who would have taken them . Arthur's for one, evil bastards were having too much fun to give him up

1FootInTheRave · 28/01/2022 18:30

Our judicial system is farcical.

CottonSock · 28/01/2022 18:31

I was shocked too. I think because they couldn't prove which one of them it was. Disgusting, look them both up for life.

Nanny0gg · 28/01/2022 20:18

I'm going to stop reading the news

There's the little boy killed by his grandmother and a little girl killed by her mum.

I appreciate in those two cases there were clearly mental health issues, but I'm just finding it unbearable to hear about those poor children. It's so, so sad

YANBU - this sort of thing seems to be actually getting worse instead of better. I wonder whether the lockdown has anything to do with it, with parents not getting proper checks and support etc etc, not making excuses for them, just saying.

Tigerteafor3 · 28/01/2022 20:25

If you Google her name, on images there's screen shots [allegedly] of her mum claiming the baby's recent vaccinations killed her. Sickening.

ThisIsStartingToBoreMe · 28/01/2022 20:28

They must know they’ll get caught eventually. What is the point in it all.

@Suzi888 - it's bizzare isn't it? I wondered this also. At what point do people like this stop doing it - or are they literally just going to do it until they end the childs life.

Shuffletime · 28/01/2022 20:36

How can you look at a 8 week old baby and feel anything other than overwhelming love? Even other people's babies! I cannot comprehend this kind of abuse.
