CMS overpayment letter…

Arrived this morning. No details, blah blah you’ve been overpaid and we’ve tried and failed to reach you.

Except…I haven’t received CM for literally years (he’s a self employed loser on his third family and hasn’t seen DC for fifteen years).

I’ve logged in to the online bit and there’s nothing there. I’ve tried calling but gave up after an hour.

Aibu to ignore this and put it down to an admin error? Funnily enough FB memories has just reminded me that this time last year I got a letter saying he earns less than £7 a week so owes me nothing.

I did actually LOL when I opened the letter tbh because the most I’ve ever received is a tenner a week for a brief few months.

Should I try again to call them? Or just wait for them to chase me?

Sounds like a scam. Wouldn't call any number on the letter but look up the number and any reference from proper correspondence if you want to check.

gamerchick · 27/01/2022 19:50

Have you looked up the number rather than using the one on the letter, just on case it's some sort of scam?

Personally I'd ignore it.

GaiusHelenMohiam · 27/01/2022 19:53

The phone number and my case number is correct as are all my details.

I wouldn't ignore it. I would call them back and get something in writing from them confirming it isn't the case.

Nowayoutonlydown · 27/01/2022 19:58

Haha I got one, once.
Because I'd opened a CMS claim and he paid £20 to me after he quit his job to avoid paying the £200 a month he should have been paying. Told me "you won't get £200 off me ever"

Fuck knows how he spun it. He and his partner put it all over Facebook how they'd overpaid- literally £10 overpayment but didn't look into the fact that she was 4 and he had at that point paid about £80 to her entire upkeep.

Fucking dossers paix £170 total in her 14 years of life, but drives around in pretty new car.

Oh god I hadn’t even thought that twatface might have actioned it himself.

They do have form for nonsense like this. Urgh.

The trouble is they are IMPOSSIBLE to contact at the moment. I don’t have hours of free time to sit on hold.

I phoned them the other week. Put them on speaker and got on with my cleaning/ ironing till they answered

plantmadness · 27/01/2022 20:07

You can send a message via the portal rather than hang on but it can take them a while to respond.

GaiusHelenMohiam · 27/01/2022 20:07

I’ve just sent them a message (great minds) so we’ll see if they get back to me.

Good call OP, I think if you ignore it you could have trouble later. Better to discover what the error is and get it corrected.
