My friend has had a terrible last 5 years with health, relationships, etc but so have I but her issues take over every day we ever spend together I’ve had my issues as well and I just never get a look in. I don’t have many friends but this one is just so draining I don’t know how to move forward though.

One of my closest friends is like this
I love her but she always has a new crisis every week and will spend days talking about it
I don't mind listening and giving advice but would be nice if maybe she asked how I was doing now and then
Sometimes I feel like her therapist
Sorry I haven't got any advice for you

OP have you told her how you feel? That seems like the first step.

To add - her reaction will tell you a lot.

If you talk to her because you just need people to talk to and are low on options, www.7cups.com is a really nice place to find genuine caring people to talk to.
