Do I need A&E?

I had a breast biopsy at 2pm. The biopsy site bled quite badlt earlier through the dressing. I applied pressure and it stopped. Now its bleeding and it isn't stopping but only the tiniest of amounts. Spots of blood more than anything. I feel ridiculous for even thinking about A&E. But surely it shouldn't be bleeding even a little amount 9 hours later?!

Ignore the unkind comments Hmm
I had a breast biopsy a few years ago and it bled lightly for a day or so. (When I say lightly I mean spotting - not any heavier than that.) it was also very bruised.
Hope you get some reassurance from 111.

@VelvetChairGirl

why dont you phone 111 instead of asking random idiots online
I resemble that remark!

Hi OP I waited 2 hours for 111 to even answer the phone when I had difficulty in breathing with covid so you could be in for a wait. Sounds like you have taken some practical steps in applying pressure etc. Try and sleep if you can - you will hear the phone when 111 ring you back. If nothing else a quick call to the practice nurse tomorrow morning might be helpful.

So sorry you are going through this - bad enough worrying about the biopsy without this on top Thanks

When I had a breast biopsy it bled for a little while after and was very painful for a few days. If its only spotting I would redress and wait and see if it stops by tomorrow.

I'm really sorry you're going through this OP. Thinking of you and hope the biopsy results come back clear.

I don't see why people are being unkind on a thread of this type. It's obviously a really worrying time for you.

Hopefully the bleeding will stop very soon and you will be able to get some sleep.

Not very kind comments for someone who has just had a breast biopsy and could well be worried beyond their normal rational thinking.
Have a heart eh? [/quote]
It concerns me that unqualified people are giving their medical opinion. If the OP is worried she should just call 111 for reassurance. That’s the point I was trying to make.

Thank you. Clean gauze over biopsy site now wet to touch but as it took over an 1 hr to get to that point I'm going to go to bed and see how it is tomorrow

That sounds sensible to me. Sounds like it's oozing not gushing. I would take some towels to bed with you and sort of prop round it so it's as supported as possible and your bedding is spared. Presume you feel ok otherwise?
