Based off the other salary thread

What salary would you expect an apprentice Lab analyst in a pharmaceutical company to be paid. 3 days in work and 2 days at college (degree apprenticeship)...

Just interested in seeing responses...

Hmm, apprentice roles are a bit tricky to judge. I'd say £12,000 per annum?

Hairyfriend · 25/01/2022 21:20

Would it be in line for NHS type banding? I would guess this is a band 4 role so maybe £20,000?

WeAreTheHeroes · 25/01/2022 21:20

It depends on their age - NMW or NLW.

Hairyfriend · 25/01/2022 21:20

Hang on, are they only paid for 3 days a week or whilst training also?

YellowLemonz · 25/01/2022 21:21

£25k

apprenticewage · 25/01/2022 21:22

Paid a salary for both and educational fees paid also

OP posts:
mishmased · 25/01/2022 21:22

I would say around £21,000.

BobMortimersPetOwl · 25/01/2022 21:27

Lab work is generally quite low paid, so I'd have said around £15k tops but more likely to be in line with whatever the minimum is. Educational fees are only going to be 5 or 10% of the cost because of the levy.

WalkingOnSonshine · 25/01/2022 21:27

Where I work it would be 16-17k as our industry pays higher than most.

For other areas, I’ve heard of around 12-15k - offers that our technicians/analysts have had from other schemes.

GreenNewDealNow · 25/01/2022 21:29

About 100 quid a week?

Bratnews · 25/01/2022 21:29

Degree apprentice I’d say 15-17 for the first year.

MiloAndEddie · 25/01/2022 21:37

Living wage

MojoJojo71 · 25/01/2022 21:52

About £12k? (equivalent of £10ph for 3 x 7.5 hour days in work

Peccary · 25/01/2022 21:57

I'd say around £17-18k FTE. That's somewhere in the middle or what my Biotech pays placement students and graduate lab techs

WhenTheDragonsCame · 25/01/2022 22:03

The occupational therapy apprentice where I work is on 75% of band 5 wages so I think about £18,500. This increases every year until she qualifies and is then on band 5 wages.

I would guess no more than that.

qualitygirl · 26/01/2022 07:24

21k

Asdf12345 · 26/01/2022 07:29

Given management are constantly asking us to find jobs apprentices could do as they work out considerably cheaper than the already low paid staff I would guess in the region of a packet of crisps and a branded beanie hat.

I would also want to be clear what the employment outcomes are like, here the clipboards were quite upfront that the plan is to get apprenticeships for cheap labour and that they will get jobs elsewhere at the end of the course (nobody could say where though).

ItsSnowJokes · 26/01/2022 07:30

12-15k while on a degree apprenticeship. You have to take into account that the company are paying all uni fees etc..

fluffythedragonslayer · 26/01/2022 07:44

About £200 a week?

apprenticewage · 26/01/2022 08:02

Thanks all. The range is interesting.
Pay is approx 22k plus full fees at uni
I also get 10% employer pension contributions
2.3% annual increase
8% bonus

Pay when I finish will rise to circa 35k

I am not in the U.K. but the numbers I have calculated as sterling equivalent.

timshortfforthalia · 26/01/2022 08:04

I'd assume 12k-15k as well. Probably nearer the lower end of that. Disclaimer: I have no experience in 8r knowledge of this area.

timshortfforthalia · 26/01/2022 08:05

Just seen update. Which country are you in?

apprenticewage · 26/01/2022 08:07

@timshortfforthalia I'm in Ireland

Interesting. Where are you in the world OP if you don't mind me asking? I think people have assumed you are in the UK as apprenticeship wages here tend to be quite low so it may have skewed your answers a bit.
