Picture of dead cat on FB

Someone in my area (not a friend) has posted a pic of a dead cat on FB. Comment reads dead cat on High B road. I feel its a little insensitive to put the picture up, would a clear description not be enough. I would be heart broken to see a pixture of my cat's dead body laying on a road. I asked him if he had moved the cat out of the road, he replied no I put a pic up so they (the owners) could move him. Feeling sad :(

In the nicest way.. you’re being U
I am a mad cat lady myself and I’d much rather be able to identity my cat immediately rather than read a generic description of “ginger cat. On m25” and wonder is it mine?, did he wander that far, could it be mine?, no, mine has a white paw, the description would have said that…..

In the lost cat groups I'm on it is in the rules to not post pictures. If asked for they can be sent. I'd have put that it would have been better to not post the picture. Can you report it?

AndAnotherNewOne · 25/01/2022 12:26

A description could apply to many cats, though. I can see why a photo was posted, although I wouldn't do it.

Oh our fb groups they usually put a description and then put the photo in the comments so people can chose whether to look at it.

I have a lot of American friends on my FB who regularly post pictures of the animals they've murdered (or hunting as they call it Hmm) which I report but FB do nothing about. So I don't think they'll do anything about a cat.

It just quite sad to post the picture showing his little blood stained body and not move him. I'd hate to see any of my kitties like that on FB

My cat was run over and killed last week. I would have been horrid if someone had posted a picture of her dead. The posts luckily only had a description on Facebook. Someone kindly had taken her to the vet already, and they scanned her then rang me.
