AIBU to become tee total?

Alcohol hates me. Mid forties now and if I drink, even one beer, I feel bloated and nauseous.
I’ve never been a big drinker, but I do tend to have periods where I drink 1-2 drinks most nights for a while… and then a few weeks where I don’t drink at all. I think I’m a bit al or nothing in general.
So… aibu to become tee total and not drink alcohol again?

I haven’t touched a drink for a couple years, before that I only drank if it was a special occasion, it’s not something that bothers me. I think some of my friends think I’m boring 🤣.

YANBU. I went tee-total in November 2020. What a relief! Now I don’t have to think about what to have, how much to have or what effect it wil have. Very freeing. I still love pubs but I only ever have water. Go for it!

I’m thinking of doing the same. I used to enjoy a glass of wine but now just one glass makes me feel a bit tipsy and really affects my sleep.

You won't regret it for a second

Go for it!

I am the same OP, but I've got problems with my gallbladder and if I drink I'm in agony. It's just not worth it.

I can’t imagine any circumstances where this would Be unreasonable. Since starting HRT I’m pretty much tee total and I’m loving it. Life has so much more clarity to it now. I wished I’d done it years ago.

LowlyTheWorm · 24/01/2022 23:08

Excellent. Thank you all… that’s it. Alcohol free from now. @Eatsleepgamerepeat that sounds awful. I have had a few little niggles that have made me wonder about my gallbladder- could it cause just nausea and not pain? So many people say GB issues are agony…

YANBU.

I never thought I'd say this - -used to love a drink -- but I can imagine being teetotal now. I've more or less finished Dry January and barely noticed it.

Still occasionally let my hair down, with old friends and partner but increasingly just find its not worth the hangovers.

Even moderate drinking during the week damages my productivity at work and my ability to be present for my child so much its just not worth it.

I can't imagine I will ever formally go teetotal as I love my wine, but I can imagine becoming a very very light drinker.
