I’m going away on holiday at the weekend and I haven’t stopped bleeding for 7 weeks.
Not too heavy but it’s every day.
I had a mirena put in at the start of Dec and I know it’s needs time to settle but I think I’ve read that I can ask my dr for something to stop it.
I’m seeing the practice nurse later so I’m going to see if I can request something.

Sorry for posting in Aibu but when I asked recently in the correct section I got no responses.

Tranexamic acid does this for bleeding after coil insertion, might be worth a try! (It works for all kinds of bleeding, but I know it can be used specifically in this situation too)

Often people have heard of norethisterone, which is the one you can take to delay you coming on your period for a holiday, wedding etc, but I think that works by delaying ovulation, so that wouldn't work in your case I don't think.

Annoying isn't it!? My first Mirena I didn't bleed once after I got it in for 5 years - but my second it took a couple of months to settle down.

It won't stop the bleeding but it could help if you take ibuprofen (obviously within safety recommendations). I used to have very heavy periods and when I asked my GP about it and mentioned that I'd been using aspirin for the cramps she immediately said to stop doing that because it's making the bleeding worse and switch to ibuprofen which will have the opposite effect. She was right.

I have to be careful with ibuprofen due to being asthmatic unfortunately.

Norestherone. That’s what I was thinking about. Sadly probably not any good right now.
