To report used items on Vinted?

I am using Vinted to sell some old baby clothes and some new ones. Also some unwanted gifts such as cosmetics.

In some categories, it is only permitted to sell items that are "brand new with tags" and used items cannot be sold in these categories such as make up and cloth nappies.

I am selling only new cosmetics and new nappies. I have noticed that many items come up in searches as "brand new with tags" but then the description and photos say they are clearly used.

It is frustrating because I am following the rules and only listing new items plus it seems that when loads of search results are returned there are a lot of used nappies, for example, and this both hides my items and also could make them seems less of a bargain when compared with my items that are brand new in packaging...

I realise this is a first world problem and I am certainly not worked up about it but wondering whether it would be mean spirited to click the "report" button for the used ones.

This would be purely selfish as it could help my items sell but it also seems only fair that we all follow the rules as I have some used nappies that I have not uploaded to Vinted because of the rules!

The rule about items being brand new doesn't really make sense when it comes to cloth nappies. Cloth nappies are meant to be reused, and the resale of used cloth nappies is well established - otherwise you'd have to bin them, which goes against the whole point of them. I can see why people have gone against the rule to sell them anyway.

@mimos4 Perhaps but there are other ways to sell items that are used.

It's not a huge thing in the scheme of things but it's just annoying.

I have a pile of used ones upstairs too but haven't uploaded those due to the rule plus there are so many on there I think it's making it more difficult for me to sell the new ones I have uploaded.

I assume the rule is due to hygiene but ofc they can be washed.

Maybe try eBay instead? I feel like Vinted is more of a second hand marketplace whereas a lot of online shops sell new on eBay these days.

What nappies do you have? I don't use vinted but I do love a cloth nappy... ☺️

Pretty vindictive on your part.

Chocomelon · 23/01/2022 20:15

I am finding Vinted quite easy with the postage but I have used eBay in the past

It is just annoying as there is no filter for
New / used categories for some items as they only "permit" new so it means the new listings get lost in a sea of mainly used

@Ibleedibreedibreaatfeed bambino mio solo ones brand new

I actually sold a bundle of 8 shortly after listing them today so pleased with that but this could be down to them being near the top as they had just been listed

@CorrBlimeyGG I think "vindictive" is putting it a bit strongly! I just think everyone should follow the rules or it's not fair on those who do.
