What is this?! Or should I throw it away

I'm spending a boring Sunday organising my fridge (I know I know!) and I keep moving around this thing that I have no idea what it is.
It came with the fridge (hisense if that makes a difference)
Does anyone know what it is? I can imagine I'll throw it away and then realise how important it is. 🤣

Something to hold veg in? Just keep it. Extra storage to keep food separate.

NannyR · 23/01/2022 13:47

Is it a veg basket that fits in the bottom of the fridge? My fridge has something similar.

sofakingcool · 23/01/2022 13:48

It looks like it should fit somewhere in particular? Any obvious places?

Seeline · 23/01/2022 13:50

It's the salad drawer for the bottom area of the fridge. Fairly standard in all fridges isn't it?

Thats what I was thinking, why is it such an odd shape at the back like it should fit somewhere? I looked online at pictures of the fridge and can't see this part in any of the pictures but it definitely came with it. 🤔

Does it have an ice maker?

OneTC · 23/01/2022 13:54

Pics of the rest of your fridge?

The cut out at the back of the box is meant to accommodate some part of the fridge interior. Looks like it might be the control section that it's meant to nestle with

Cherrysoup · 23/01/2022 13:59

Looks like the salad drawer. Mine’s a weird shape so it fits the door when it’s closed.

Russell19 · 23/01/2022 14:07

@Ginisatonic

Does it have an ice maker?
Yes it does, I was wondering if it was something to do with that.

Extra pictures.... there are 2 salad drawers at the bottom so not sure it's anything to do with those, they're just standard normal shaped drawers. This part is smaller.

I reckon when you replaced your old fridge you thought "that looks useful" and kept the old part

Ginisatonic · 23/01/2022 14:11

I think if you remove the ice maker this will fit in the gap.

This is what I was thinking (and would do tbh even if it ends up completely useless).
PeppaPigOinkOinkOink · 23/01/2022 14:16

Its to be put in place if you dont want ice making, it changes places with the part that holds the ice.

purplesequins · 23/01/2022 14:23

do you still have the manual?
or is the manual available online?

I thought that at first but then when I was googling I found the same fridge for sale with the random bit just wedged in too!

Ahhhhhh I knew it was useful. Maybe I'll just put it in the garage then! I'll try it. Thank you, had that fridge over a year and it's been bugging me.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 23/01/2022 14:32

When you put it in the garage, add a sticky label to the back saying 'Hisense fridge - goes in place of icemaker'.

That way you'll know what it is when you've forgotten all about it for five years or ten and you're moving house with a completely different fridge by then.

Whiteminnowfish · 23/01/2022 14:34

It looks like an extra shelf that would fit in the door. You slide them in place

CounsellorTroi · 23/01/2022 14:35

Looks like the salad drawer that goes in the bottom of the fridge.

Russell19 · 23/01/2022 14:46

Solved! Thank you mnetters! It swaps in place of the ice box to make an extra drawer if you don't want the ice maker on like a very knowledgeable pp said! Thanks everyone.
