Where abouts in the north?

Chemenger · 23/01/2022 10:47

If you google “king crab restaurant in xxx” where x is the area you’re interested in it will bring you some options. Manchester has some , for example. Or look for sea food restaurants and check their menus.

Cocomarine · 23/01/2022 10:47

“the North” 🤣

LoseLooseLucy · 23/01/2022 10:49

"The North" is giving me Game of Throne vibes 😂

Chemenger · 23/01/2022 10:50

To be fair “the North” only covers maybe 20 million people, a dozen large cities and about a third of England (assuming England is meant, the north of Scotland, Wales and Ireland are smaller).

ShesKickedOutBarry · 23/01/2022 10:52

The North

Fairly big place OP 😂.

MintyGreenDream · 23/01/2022 10:52

Pmsl literally anywhere in Northern England I'm willing to go anywhere

OP posts:
anothersmahedmug · 23/01/2022 10:54

Ffs if you are in say Sheffield it's as easy to go to London as Carlisle

If you are in Carlisle why are you ruling out Scotland?

Benjaminsniddlegrass · 23/01/2022 10:54

Surely it should be King Crab of the North? Crustaceans are coming.

SkiingIsHeaven · 23/01/2022 10:55

You would probably get a better response if you narrowed down the area a bit, even if you are willing to go anywhere.

MintyGreenDream · 23/01/2022 10:56

🤣 OK fair enough I'll taking the ribbing.Yorkshire preferably.

The North of where?

shinynewapple22 · 23/01/2022 10:58

I've just googled and King Crab seems to be a seafood supplier rather than a restaurant

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 23/01/2022 10:58

Okay, so now OP you need to Google king crab restaurants or seafood restaurants in the area you are interested in.

shinynewapple22 · 23/01/2022 10:59

Loch Fyne is a chain of seafood restaurants - they have one in York

SmashingBIouse · 23/01/2022 11:00

The North is a funny old thing. I'm very far North of England (I can see Scotland from my house) and around here Manchester and Sheffield are considered the South (as DH once said, how is Manchester the North if I have to travel South for three hours to get there?). However if you're in Slough they're the North. Yet to people in Aberdeen I'm a Southerner.

Anyway I hope you find your crab OP.

Think I misunderstood- you just mean as a dish - thought you meant it was the name of a restaurant
MintyGreenDream · 23/01/2022 11:02

I've done all the googling believe it or not and can't find one that definitely does it just wondered if anyone knew for sure if they've seen it on the menu in a place they've been to

OP posts:
WeAreTheHeroes · 23/01/2022 11:02

It's also called spider crab - the king crab name is a marketing ploy to make it sound more palatable than spider.

ivegotthisyeah · 23/01/2022 11:14

Have you looked at crab and lobster near thirsk? Also Wensleydale heifer west Witton

MenaiMna · 23/01/2022 11:25

Is his birthday in crab season? (April to November). It probably won't be on the menu now unless it's imported. Maybe search by coastal city and find best seafood restaurant in each to narrow it down.

gobbynorthernbird · 23/01/2022 11:29

Loads of Chinese restaurants in Manchester do king crab. I think year round, as they're in the tanks to be cooked fresh.

I know it's illogical but it would really put me off seeing my crab alive before eating it.
