Hi I'm 21 years old and a new mum to a 1yr old before I had my son my period was clock work I had no issues ... after giving birth to my son my period came back normal and stayed fine for a few months I didn't gain weight during my pregnancy but after having my son I was eating quite a lot and gained a lot of weight since then my period has been very off missing two months of having a period and then it will start back to normal again and I'll have 33day cycles and then it will disappear like this month I'm 5days late and last month I had a normal period cycle I've done 2 pregnancy test and all negative

Hi OP,

I wasn't formally diagnosed with PCOS until I was 40, but had always suspected I had it.

My periods were always extremely irregular... anything from 20 to 60 days apart. The bigger the gap, the heavier and longer the period. At worst I think they were 10 days long.

Along with irregular periods came crippling period pains. I used I have to take days off school/work.

I'm also quite hairy, which has gotten worse with age. Probably doesn't help that I have the dreaded pale skin/black hair combo.

At age 18 (ish), I went on the contraceptive pill to regulate my periods and that was a game-changer.

If you think you have PCOS and it's causing a problem for you or you would like a formal diagnosis for whatever reason, try to book an appt to see your GP.

I think the GP not wanting to test for PCOS is that I'm not sure there is much they can actually do for you after a diagnosis. So it's probably just largely academic. I could be wrong though.

I had a non stop period for 2 years. I would also have a beard if I didn’t shave. My period was fixed by having a mirena coil

Hello there.

I've had irregular periods for quite some time now. I have one 4 year old child. Previous miscarriages and trying for baby no2 for last few years. I had investigations done after miscarriages at doctors and was referred to a gynae specialist who diagnosed me with PCOS.

I have bad acne, extra hair on my face etc, also haven't been able to lose weight easily since having my first child and the irregular periods. Sometimes I go 3 months without one.

I have just been given clomid to try help things along with baby no2 however nothing else at this stage. I was only investigated for the PCOS after I had previous miscarriages and it took around 14 months of waiting for a diagnosis.

I am 44, diagnosed with PCOS at 21.

I have Hashimoto’s, too, yet have remained thin throughout (5’7.5 and 9 stone). For me, I struggled with acne and neck hair in my twenties. My period comes every 28-34 days. I have shocking PMS and pre-kids, I would vomit and black out the first day of my period. No fertility issues, though.

Apparently there’s talk of introducing a new subset of PCOS, for women like me who are thin and don’t have fertility issues, but we have the classic markers of PCOS.

Irregular periods, the longest I went without a period (not pregnant) was seven months.

Facial hair. Actually quite hairy all over.

Weight gain and trouble losing weight.

Fertility problems.

I honestly don't understand doctors sometimes...

Most of the time my pcos gives me irregular cycles, adult acne hair on the most weird places, weight gain which I cannot seem to lose. Also my obgyn checks me every year for cysts.
