To feel so upset by this?

I dropped my son off at a club this morning and was walking down a residential road totally absorbed in replying to a message on my phone. I was vaguely aware of a couple of women in front walking a dog who then stopped for the dog to go to the toilet. I glanced at them and crossed the road to get in front. I was still looking at my phone so was shocked when they shouted at me - if you pull that face for too long it will stay that way! In an aggressive way. Then something like - honestly, what are people like? Awful aren't they? I considered turning round but wasn't totally sure it was at me and then they shouted - then again I'd pull that face if I had such an ugly face as her! I felt really threatened and upset and then they followed me until I got to the high street shouting mean things. I'm still feeling so upset about it, I honestly did nothing wrong and don't understand why they picked on me like that.

They sound unhinged

SniffMyFeet · 22/01/2022 14:29

Some people are just wankers. Try to forget about it

Derrymum123 · 22/01/2022 14:33

Ignore. You don't need that sh** to waste another second of your time. Why can't people just keep their anger for something that deserves it. Flowersfor you.

DramaAlpaca · 22/01/2022 14:35

Let it go. They are not worth another second of your time.

Sportslady44 · 22/01/2022 14:37

why dont you stop walking and stand still when you use your phone, so many people walking around and not looking where they are going and nearly bump into you.

Be aware of whats going on around you.

RedskyThisNight · 22/01/2022 14:38

Are you sure they didn't think that you were glaring at them or something?

But ... it's not really a good habit to be so engrossed in your phone you don't notice what's going on around you (from a safety point of view if nothing else). Particularly if you are crossing the road.

SituationCritical · 22/01/2022 14:40

Don't worry about it. I know so many people who had similar things happen to them, being shouted at from cars, having things thrown at them (my lovely mum had a bag of rubbish thrown at her by a load of jeering men in a car!). I got shouted at by a man in the middle of the day on a busy high street because I had been waiting behind him in a queue in a shop...that's it. Apparently I was a snobby bitch. We never interacted in the shop. I just concluded he wasn't well and got on with my day. Shrug it off, it's not your problem.

scandikate · 22/01/2022 14:46

It's a really quiet road and I did notice what was going on around me, honestly there was no way I could have been run over. I was walking really slowly and replying to a message mainly because I have quite a bit of time to kill before picking up my son. I just explained that I was doing that to show that I was in no way staring at these women. They definitely thought I glared at them, probably because their dog went to the toilet but I really didn't, I probably don't have the smiliest resting face but that's no reason to be so horrible, is it?

What?! Why? She saw the women and walked around them.
Mosaic123 · 22/01/2022 14:50

How very rude of them.

Ignore such people.

Liverbird77 · 22/01/2022 15:03

They sound crazy!
You did nothing wrong. What a horrible experience!

TopTabby · 22/01/2022 15:27

Just try to put it out of your mind. Not easy, I know. It'll seem massive today but much smaller tomorrow & it'll continue to fade.
Some people are honestly just complete knobs & there's nothing we can do about it unfortunately. Hope you feel better soon.

superplumb · 22/01/2022 18:31

They sound like utter dickheads. I'd ignore them. Please dont walk looking at your phone though, the number of people who have walked into me or my children when doing so then look surprised when I tell them to look where they're walking

superplumb · 22/01/2022 18:33

Although I'd add you cleary walked around them so they sound like they had a huge issue ..maybe unhinged as someone above said. Ignore them

You might consider being socially aware of what’s going on around you too.
