Company parking

Not sure if this is the correct category, but anyway here's my question.

Is their any legal rulings or people's points that prove or disprove that the company has to offer the subsidise ?

Basically the role is sales, the hq, was local to the area where the person was traveling around to conduct the sales, lockdown happened and the company moved headquarters, now the person has to use the local car parks near where they are conducting the sales, but they want to know if the company should subsidise the parking fees, as when they were first accepted the role, they had use of the company car park ?

What happens for people who do sales but don't have a patch near HQ?

I doubt there's anything that would apply other than the terms of your contract. However, I've never known any organisation expect their employees to pay for parking (and not be reimbursed) if they have to travel away from the office.

I used to work for a retail head office and was always paid parking when I went to the stores. However, I suspect that's under working away from your normal place of work - is the place of work in the contract the new office?

Usually use their own methods of transport, but they don't get reimbursed.

As far as I'm aware the contracts have been updated to list the new details of hq, but originally the parking was never a certainty, it was more of a it's their if you want to use it , type of arrangement.

If I am in the office and can't get a space in the company car park I have to pay for parking. If I go out on business I can claim the parking fees back.

Hawkins001 · 21/01/2022 16:54

To get an understanding it seems it's what's contained in your contract as to the travel arrangements and costs covered if having to use e.g. Car parks ect ?

Well, my contract has a place of work, but the stuff about reimbursement for travel is in a separate handbook. However if this person is travelling around away from the new, office to a place that happens to be near old HQ, then that to me is business travel.
