If my ex is trying to take custody to court how soon how I know?

He's always been on and off seeing the kids.

So I got a lawyers letter which he requested to see them once or twice a month. So my lawyers responded saying it's not in the best interests of the children. And it's been left since then.

What would happen if he's chosen to take it to court? How long does it take for me to be notified?

I didn't allow him to see the children last Friday because he shouts at our middle child and she is terrified of him. He just grunts and she will run out the room. Our one year old wasn't talking or seeming like our older too did in terms of happiness etc. Then he stayed away for two weeks and he is so different. He's such a happy little boy and talking now. Out of no where loads of words. He is also scared of him and runs away - I've raised these concerns with health visitor but else can I do. There is so way I'm ever sending them over to him when he does that.

Thanks in advance
