To be utterly fed up of toxic positivity?

I am so so sick of these people in my home town posting advice on yoga, healthy eating, positivity, life in general. Most of these people have actually no qualifications to be giving such advice. They have went through one or two difficult or 'traumatic' events and feel that makes them qualified to lecture others on how to live their life.

Now this wouldn't be a problem if this advice was given when asked, however it is rammed down our through the without asking. I also notice a lot of these people were awful in school, the most awful bullies that claim to have 'turned their life about'.

I feel offended when I see and hear them post. No qualifications to be giving such advice. Why in the fuck would we listen to them?

Why in the fuck would we listen to them?

This is a question you need to ask yourself, not us.

Delete them and focus on your own life.

I can't really see what qualifications they'd need to be honest. They've turned their lives around and are happy to advise others how they did it.

They're not forcing people to listen if they don't want to.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 20/01/2022 23:06

Also... would you not find it a positive that they are at least trying to do better with their lives? Surely that's preferable to carrying on through life never changing and always being the bully? I think your post raises more questions about your own feelings and maybe you should start there, look at why it bothers you so much maybe?

Presumably they're trying to make money and that's what it's usually about. Locally we've a person who lost some weight and became a gym lover use their experiences to try and flog protein balls. They're described as being the answer to all problems, it's total nonsense.

Going on social media is choosing it though isn't it

Tsuni · 20/01/2022 23:15

Crikey, Why are you so angry? Why do you think your toxic negativity is superior to their “toxic positivity?”
Switch social media off. Problem solved.

You need to spend less time on social media, OP.

Much less.
