WTF am I supposed to do about school attendance

I’ve had the inevitable letter. My son’s attendance has dropped and they want to ‘work with me’ to improve it.

How exactly?

He’s been sick. Sick enough that he gets sent home.

Sick enough that when he had D&V he actually has poo accidents. He’s 8. He’s not had an accident since he was 3. They stipulated 48 clear hours so he was home the minimum time.

Unless they’re willing to take him vomiting, shitting and coughing and wheezing, administer medication and change his clothes I’m not sure how I can work with them?

I work pretty much FT. DH is FT as they know because we had Key Worker provision. He has an EHCP. Him being home is no good for anyone.

I feel like screaming.

The stupid letter is so badly worded - it’s like they want to piss you off.

Its a copy and paste letter they send to everyone who drops under the percentage so try not to take it too much to heart. Its very common on here (I think there are a couple of threads going on the topic at the moment) so it's not just you!
I'd either ignore it entirely and carry on doing what suits your son best or phone and invite them to offer suggestions on what you can do -will be interesting to see what they say when you offer sending him in with spare underwear for his diarrhea accidents. Don't worry about it. Honestly. Send him when he's better, presumably as he has medication he is under the doctor who will back up his diagnosis. He won't be doing any effective learning if he goes back unwell, the most important thing is his feeling better. Flowers

It's a standard letter, everyone gets it at a certain attendance trigger point, it's not aimed specifically at you. Just ignore and work on getting him well and back into school
