A large group of friends went out for an expensive meal one night (pre Covid).
So that the waitress got the tip personally, we all paid for the meal on our credit cards and decided to leave a cash tip.
However, as none of us generally use cash, we realised we didn't have as much cash on us as we thought. We were therefore rummaging through bags and purses and finally left a big heap of larger coins (and some notes) on the little silver tray that she'd brought the receipt out on. There ended up being a pretty hefty tip (albeit a fair amount of coins).
The waitress came to the table, picked up the little tray of coins and smiled. She then walked off and a friend saw the waitress turn her nose up at the money and heard her say to a colleague "what the fuck am i am going to do with this pile of shit".
The friend walked up to the waitress, smiled at her and politely said "thank you" and simply took the tray of money back! The waitress was gobsmacked and won't be doing that again!
