To just not send the kids into school?

So this afternoon I got an email from my children’s school to say that today alone they have had 75 cases of covid reported ( staff and children ) within school and they are expecting this Number to be even higher tomorrow as they are waiting on a lot of children who are still waiting for pcr test results.

It’s quite a small school as it is and I have 2 in school and the last time we had covid we all got it all pretty badly… so far the kids are okay but it just seems like such a high number for just 1 day alone! And it was 10 positive cases across school on Friday so a big jump and alot of staff and children off with it.

I was talking to my mum about it and my mum said to not send the kids in because it’s just quite bad at the school atm but I think she is being unreasonable.

The rest of the email from school said that we should be extra vigilant during this time with cases in the school being so high,it just worries me.

If you’re kids don’t have underlying health conditions then I wouldn’t keep them off. Covid generally isn’t serious for kids. And it won’t go away any time soon.

I can understand your hesitation but I would send them to school. How long would you plan to keep them off for?

If it’s really a small school then 75 in one day is likely to put them over the threshold of staying open anyway.

I would send mine in until told otherwise (by staff or a positive result).

They've missed enough, they are well, and school is open and available to them to go to

Good point! We are a one form entry so 75 is two full classes plus 15 on top.

That's significant.

I thought they would have closed the school by now with it being a small school and having this many cases, but they are just telling us to be extra vigilant and watching the kids for symptoms during the amount of cases they are saying them closing will be the absolute last resort.

We are all going to get it, and they have missed enough school, they will also miss a lot of school when they do eventually get it. I would keep sending in.

How long are you going to keep them off for, though?
